The Spanish Grand Prix FIA stewards have explained why Max Verstappen received not only a 10-second time penalty, but also three penalty points. Verstappen made contact with George Russell on lap 64, following an earlier collision on lap 61 at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya. After a safety car restart at the beginning of lap 61, Verstappen was overtaken by Charles Leclerc on the run into the first corner, with Russell having attempted to follow him through.

Nico Rosberg has called for Max Verstappen to be disqualified from the Spanish Grand Prix, following his collision with George Russell. Verstappen went into the side of Russell on lap 64 at Turn 5 after being told by Red Bull to let the Mercedes driver go past for fourth place. It all stemmed from an incident at the first corner following a safety car restart on lap 61, where contact was made by Russell and Verstappen whilst the Briton tried to overtake the Dutchman.

Max Verstappen has told George Russell to "next time bring some tissues" after Russell's furious comments over their Spanish Grand Prix collision. Following the late restart, Verstappen was on the hard tyres and nearly lost the car out of the final corner, just hanging on. Charles Leclerc then got past on the main straight after contact, with Russell then forcing Verstappen wide at Turn 1 and through the run-off.

Lando Norris fired a post-race shot at Max Verstappen, following the Dutchman's shock Turn 5 collision with George Russell. Verstappen made a good start from third and overtook Norris into the first corner, although later fell back behind the Briton. The Red Bull driver remained in third for the vast majority of the race, until the closing laps after a late safety car restart.
