Fuller was the Wairarapa senior reporter for The Post and has had a wealth of experience in both large and small teams, including leadership roles over the past 20 years. Wairarapa’s other resident MPs are declining to criticise Labour list MP Kieran McAnulty for claiming $36,400 a year housing allowance when he stays in Wellington at a house owned by his wife. Yesterday The Post reported that McAnulty stays at a Lower Hutt flat owned by his wife, Gia Garrick, when Parliament is in session and has claimed an allowance of $12,067 since October for this.

Iconic Wairarapa event Toast Martinborough has unveiled its new format, following the financially embattled festival being bought by Foley Wines in February. At the time of the sale, Foley Wines chief executive Mark Turnbull noted that ensuring the event “remains relevant for the future” might mean tweaking some aspects of its format, including the possibility of shifting it from its traditional Sunday in November to a Saturday in February.

When Ian Fraser Grant received an email several weeks ago from the Prime Minister’s Department about being made an Officer of the New Zealand Order of Merit, his initial thought was that it was “a clever scam”, although feeling “a little humbled” swiftly followed. “We have absolutely no idea who was responsible for the nomination, but I do know, having been involved in nominating other people, that there’s quite a lot of time and effort involved,” he told the Times-Age.
