Chesterfield FC academy will be holding a schoolboy trial for players in the age brackets of U16, U18 and U21 for the upcoming season. Players must be unattached and within a daily commuting distance of Chesterfield (catchment area).

Ryan Boot becomes the third player to sign a contract extension ahead of the upcoming season. Commenting on his new deal, he said: “I am delighted to sign a new contract. John Fleck becomes the second player of the day to agree a contract extension with the Spireites. The Scotland international joined Chesterfield in September 2024 after leaving Blackburn Rovers. Fleck made 20 appearances in all competitions last term as Paul Cook’s side made the League Two play-offs. The club can confirm that defender Ash Palmer will depart the SMH Group Stadium upon the expiry of his contract after agreeing to join York City. Palmer joined Chesterfield in November 2022, joining from Stockport County. He quickly became an important part of the defence as the Spireites made the National League play-off final. The centre-back played 29 times in the National League in the 2023/24 season as Paul Cook’s men sealed promotion to the Football League.

Mike Jones has officially announced his retirement from professional football. The 37-year-old has spent the past three years with the Spireites, making 66 appearances. ‘Iron Mike’ played an integral role in helping the side reached the National League play-off final in 2023 and win the division a year later. His one goal for the club came in the 4-1 home victory against AFC Fylde back in March 2024.
