ENGLEWOOD, Colo. - The jump cut was sharper than a cleaver. It left Jahdae Barron grabbing for air and searching for an answer. So the Denver Broncos' first-round pick stood on the seat of an empty locker after Saturday's rookie minicamp practice and hoisted himself above a crowd of media members gathered around rookie running back RJ Harvey. Barron turned on his phone's camera, waited for an opening and lobbed a query of his own at his new teammate.

In 2019, Lohner was visiting the campus of the University of Utah, where the 6-foot-7, 245-pound teenager with a 40-inch vertical leap had just committed to play basketball as a top-100 national recruit. Sean Payton said Saturday his team would have more prime-time games on its schedule in 2025. The Christmas night showcase certainly qualifies. "It’s part of the deal, and you get comfortable doing it," Payton said. "It’s a lot better than the alternative. That’s what you want."

The Christmas Day game in Kansas City is a chance for the Broncos to right a major wrong after being trounced by the Rams, 51-14, on Dec. 25, 2022. And, more importantly, could set up as a mammoth game with big AFC West stakes.

Ho ho ho.
