Electric vehicles come in all shapes and sizes, and this is reinforced by the 2025 Ford Mustang Mach-E and 2025 Volvo EX40. Some muscle car purists still fume that Ford used the Mustang label here, though driving one of the more powerful upper trims proves this horse can run. The Volvo EX40, formerly called the XC40 Recharge, follows a more familiar subcompact SUV blueprint. In fact, at a glance, it’s hard to spot this electrified version from its gas-powered sibling, the XC40.

The 2025 Honda HR-V and Subaru Crosstrek are small SUVs that go above and beyond in passenger space, cargo volume, fuel efficiency, and refinement. Despite their affordable pricing, neither skimps on standard/available tech or safety features. The 2023 comprehensive makeover of the HR-V left it resting on the Civic platform. This transition translated into a roomy cabin, and sedan-like agility and refinement.
