Common Understanding of Matter Generally, everyone agrees that Matter is a base that receives Form-Ideas. But disagreements arise about what this Matter really is and how it receives forms. Some believe that only physical bodies are real and everything, including divine beings, is a form of Matter. They even claim that God is a mode of Matter, considering it as a body without quality, just a magnitude. Another group considers Matter to be incorporeal.
