However, it was just the beginning. Eleven years later, the Pioneers achieved another milestone, which was making their first state tournament berth in the 1985-86 season. The team consisted of two returning players who saw significant court time and several juniors.

The Pierz Pioneers wrestling won their last two regular regular season duals, starting with beating their Morrison County rivals the Royalton-Upsala Area Royals Thursday, Feb. 6, winning 57-11. The dual began with two wins by fall, coming from Rylan Gruber at 107 pounds and Kyle Stangl at 114. Link Toops earned his win by forfeit, followed by Gauge Johnson pinning the Royals’ Brenden Mack in the 127 pound match.

The Little Falls Flyers wrestling team had a successful week, starting with a first-place finish at the North Branch Invite on Friday, Jan. 31. The team scored an impressive 257 points, surpassing Delano's second-place score of 152. Several Flyers wrestlers secured first place in their respective weight classes, including Sam Strack (107 lbs), Hayden Ramsdell (127 lbs), Mason Rausch (133 lbs), Beau Robinson (160 lbs), and Ivan Petrich (215 lbs).

The Pierz Pioneers wrestling team had a successful week, winning three duals at a quad meet in Pequot Lakes on Friday, January 31, and securing a second-place finish for Ava Phillips (136) at the Minnesota Ninth Grade and Under Wrestling League Individual tournament on Saturday, February 1. During the quad meet, the Pioneers defeated Chaska-Chanhassen 43-15, with wins by fall from Gauge Johnson (127), Hunter Przybilla (145), and Jayden Zajac (172).
