Now known as Pope Leo XIV, Prevost succeeds Pope Francis, who died on April 21. While the new pope is from Chicago, he also has ties to Michigan, having attended high school in Holland. The monophonic, analogue Moog Messenger is designed as a new, entry-level instrument, with a two-and-a-half-octave keyboard and plenty of knobs for sculpting sounds. It was announced today by Moog at Superbooth, a synth show taking place this weekend in Berlin. The Messenger's sounds come from two oscillators, each with variable waveforms, plus a sub oscillator.

The auction was organised with support from the late producer and DJ's family. Andrew Weatherall's collection of vintage synths and effects went up for auction last week, an initiative spearheaded by Soundgas, a British instrument restorer and reseller. The timed auction was arranged with the backing of Weatherall's family, notably his brother, Ian Weatherall.
