BURTON, MI – Seven months after a case of West Nile Virus was confirmed in Burton, the city is moving forward with its first-ever mosquito control program. The Burton City Council unanimously approved a mosquito abatement program this month that’s already underway and could continue through September. “We had a lot of demand for it, a lot of residents requested it, and if it works out, we’ll continue the program,” Burton Department of Public Works Director Charles Abbey said.
