Julia James, of Weare, has had a double mastectomy and said she will likely not choose to have reconstruction because of what she has been through. First diagnosed over ten years ago, she has had cancer three times in total and all manner of debilitating treatment. The 55-year-old driving instructor, who works in and around Weston-super-Mare, Worle, and in other areas of North Somerset, said the mastectomy was a more recent event in her cancer journey.

4 1/1 It's a simple old game really, bowls. You have a small white ball and a few larger black balls and the idea is to get your black ball as close as possible to the smaller white ball, aka jack, by rolling it across smooth beautifully maintained grass. But there's a lot of skill if you want to be any good at it. And a lot of practice. Put it this way, I don't think we are being called up by the Taunton Bowling Club for competition given our below average efforts.

James Rew called into England squad (Image: Somerset CCC) Somerset County Cricket Club wicketkeeper batsman James Rew has been called up to the England test side, describing the pick as an "absolute honour."  The 21-year-old, who scored a battling century for Somerset in last week's heroic county championship victory against Essex, is in the squad for the one-off test against Zimbabwe which starts May 22.
