It was a scoreless tie after the first half of play with both teams having solid runs at the net. In the second half, the Pirates were able to draw a penalty late, giving them a penalty kick opportunity.

VINTON - Wind and rain greeted racers on Friday night at the Vinton-Shellsburg Early Bird track meet, but that didn’t slow them down. Vinton-ShellsburgKaden Kerkman set a new personal record in the 100-meter dash, taking sixth place with a time of 11.90. Kashton Grimm also set a new PR in the 200, also taking sixth place in the event with a time of 24.14.

BoysCenter Point-UrbanaIt was a strong showing for the Stormin' Pointers on Monday night that saw two first place finishes. Nathan Miller won the 400-meter dash with a time of 51.12, a full second ahead of the second place finisher.

Knights close indoor season at Wartburg Invite

WAVERLY - The third and final Wartburg Indoor Invitational saw the Union Knights take their final indoor warmup. In the boys 55-meter dash, Levi Hadacheck and Evan Hanus both set new personal records with time of 6.75 and 6.86. Hadacheck qualified for the finals where he set another new PR with a time of 6.67, good for fifth place. Briar Mast qualified for the 55m-hurdle finals with an 8.62 in the prelims and in the finals, he set a new PR with a time of 8.51, good for fourth place.

GRINNELL - Three area track and field teams saw their indoor season end on Tuesday night at the WaMaC indoor meet in Grinnell. Vinton-ShellsburgIn the girls 60-meter dash, Paige Clemensen had the best night for the Vikettes, coming in 15th place with a time of 8.79. Colt Koeppen cracked the top-15 in the 200m, clocking a time of 25.64 for a 15th place finish. In the girls 200, Clemensen took 10th place, crossing the line in 29.51.
