The 39 year old leader of the far-right AUR party won 41% of the vote in the first round of the Romanian presidential election on Sunday. He goes into the 2nd round on 18 May with a clear advantage over the second placed, liberal mayor of Bucharest, Nicusor Dan, who got 21%. In this short BBC interview I asked him about Ukraine, Russia, the US, the EU, Hungary, and how he would describe himself. You can find my BBC online report on the election outcome here.

Romanians will try again to elect a new president today, six months after the first attempt ended in scandal and confusion. A radical outsider with mystical leanings, Calin Georgescu, came first on 24 November, but that result was annulled over allegations of campaign fraud and Russian interference.

We're going to pose a question to you all, and we want you to answer it honestly. If someone had told you in 2004 that Nintendo was about to abandon the Game Boy, would you have believed them? While each of Nintendo's home consoles to that point had sold less than its predecessor, the Game Boy family of consoles had been the company's golden goose, a reliable set of earners and a brand that had become synonymous with handheld gaming as a whole over its 15-year history.

Hungary's parliament has backed a range of constitutional amendments which will limit the rights of LGBTQ+ people and dual nationals. The Devil May Cry anime series is out now on Netflix, and while the animation is certainly incredible for some of the fight scenes, it's the playlist that often steals the show. The soundtrack is definitely evocative of the era in which the games arrived – you might have heard Limp Bizkit in the title sequence and Papa Roach in the trailer. However, Evanescence went one better by recording the new song 'Afterlife' for it.

After 15 years, I'm finished with Twitter. Thanks for the memories. Find me elsewhere. I did change my mind on deleting my posts. At least one has legitimate value, and as much as the AI stuff bothers me, the posts have probably already been scraped anyway. Laters. https://t.co/P2v10RMivt

I've put in a request for my data archive on this site. Once I've downloaded it, I'll be deleting my posts and leaving my account inactive. If you care to follow me elsewhere, I can be found under the same username on BlueSky.

I've cut back on posting here. I'm still active on the other site, that's like this one but not, because I like it more.
