One of the main conclusions of the Police Foundation’s 2022 Strategic Review of Policing was that as a country we fail to think and act strategically about crime and harm prevention. Everyone says they are in favour of preventing crime (who would say otherwise?), but beyond warm rhetoric preventing crime receives nowhere near the level of focus and resource as does the response to crime once it has occurred.
