The Flyers will have the sixth overall pick in the NHL Draft next month after Monday night's lottery knocked them back two spots. The slide wasn't ideal at face value, but looking down many of the projected draft boards, it's hardly the end of the world either. The Flyers need centers, and although they may be kept away from the 2025 class' top-rated ones in Michael Misa and James Hagens, they still should have a few good prospects to pick from by the time they're on the clock.

An eye on the farm makes it impossible to ignore what Otto Kemp has been doing in Lehigh Valley. The 25-year-old infielder was just a triple short of the cycle in the first of a doubleheader at Rochester on Sunday, and through 32 games, he's up to 10 homers and a monumental 1.136 OPS. He's swinging an insanely hot bat right now, and the organization and the minor leagues have taken notice, along with fans who are only developing a greater and greater curiosity.

The Flyers slid back. They'll pick No. 6 overall in the NHL Draft next month after the New York Islanders and the Utah Hockey Club both jumped ahead of them in the draft lottery on Monday night. The Islanders claimed the No. 1 pick with the first drawing, and Utah leapfrogged the maximum 10 spots in the order from No. 14 up to No. 4 with the second drawing. The Flyers entered Monday night holding the No. 4 pick in the order before the ping pong balls fell.

Britain Covey is headed to L.A.The former Eagles punt returner signed a one-year deal with the Rams on Monday, which put a bookend on his three-year run in Philadelphia. Covey signed with the Eagles as an undrafted free agent out of Utah in 2022, and quickly carved out a role for himself as the team's leading punt returner. He averaged 9.3 yards per return in 2022, and then upped it to 14.4 in 2023, which somewhat quietly established him as one of the most consistent returners in the league.

The NHL Draft lottery is set for Monday night at 7 on ESPN, and the eyes of Flyers fans everywhere will be locked in on the ping pong balls that will determine both the outlook of the team and the league's future. So there will be some suspense, but in the hopes that soon enough, that tension will stem from a playoff series rather than the placement of a name on the board. But the Flyers still need their name on the board as high up as possible.
