    MD & CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer  announced that the pumped-storage hydroelectric power plant DEWA is developing in Hatta will begin exporting clean energy to Dubai, following operational tests of the power plant which began in January 2025. The announcement followed inspections of the plant by Al Tayer on Sunday. Under the new project, water stored in Hatta Dam will be used to generate electricity. The new plant has a life-span of 80 years.
