Virginia Theological Seminary (VTS) today celebrated its 202nd Commencement. Degrees and diplomas were conferred on 48 students across the Seminary’s Master of Divinity, Master of Arts, Doctor of Ministry, Doctor of Educational Ministry, Diploma in Theology and Diploma in Anglican Studies programs. The Seminary also conferred four honorary degrees in recognition of significant service to God in the Church and the world, one of which was conferred on an alumnus.

Virginia Theological Seminary (VTS) was honored to welcome the Most Rev. Sean W. Rowe, 28th Presiding Bishop of The Episcopal Church, to campus this month. Rowe spent two days at the Seminary during which he connected with students, preached in the chapel, delivered an address, and had a meeting with the Very Rev. Ian S. Markham, dean and president of Virginia Theological Seminary, about the future of seminary education.

Virginia Theological Seminary (VTS) has extended the admissions deadline for its master’s programs after taking steps to accommodate more students. The Seminary is in the process of converting guest housing into accommodation for single students to meet strong demand for its Master of Divinity (M.Div.) and other master’s-level programs. Following the decision to increase the number of students it can accept, VTS is extending the admissions deadline for the 2025/26 academic year to June 15.

The Department of Lifelong Learning at Virginia Theological Seminary has been awarded a $24,000 grant to create a new program to help congregations talk about science and faith. The money was awarded by the American Association for the Advancement of Science Dialogue on Science, Ethics, and Religion (AAAS DoSER) program as part of its Science Engagement for Congregational Flourishing initiative.

The Center for Anglican Communion Studies (CACS) at Virginia Theological Seminary (VTS) was excited to host a groundbreaking Women Mentoring Women conference this week. The four-day event, which took place at VTS, was designed to empower Anglican women leaders by connecting them, enabling them to build friendships, learn from one another, and explore issues facing women in leadership, such as poverty, conflict, gender injustice and violence.
