1 INTRODUCTION Leptin, a potent anorexigenic adipokine secreted by adipocytes, plays an important role in cardiometabolic regulation (Belin de Chantemèle et al., 2009; De Jonghe et al., 2012; do Carmo et al., 2011). Leptin has also been shown to play a role in bone remodeling through the central nervous system (CNS) as well as by its peripheral actions, including direct effects on bone cells (Ducy et al., 2000; Takeda et al., 2002; Turner et al., 2013; Yue et al., 2016).
