Agreeing to review Boris Johnson’s memoir Unleashed seemed like a good idea when I made the commitment. I enjoy the process of encapsulating big books in a few hundred words. And in the case of Johnson, my interactions with him while he was UK prime minister and I was Scottish first minister give me some personal insight in the task. That was my thinking. But when I was confronted with the reality of reading the thing, it didn’t seem such a great wheeze after all.
