Emergency services were called to the scene just before 11 a.m. for an unresponsive woman and child in the small municipality of Lac-aux-Sables, about 175 kilometres northeast of Montreal.

The Canadian government is condemning an Iranian attack on Israel after a barrage of long-range missiles was launched at Tel Aviv in retaliation for an Israeli strike in Iran. Israel attacked Iranian missile and nuclear sites Friday and Iran warned of "severe punishment" before launching its missiles in response. Foreign Minister Anita Anand said Canada is urging restraint on both sides and that further actions could cause "devastating consequences" for the broader region.

An Ontario First Nation that has been under a state of emergency for over a year due to high levels of a toxic chemical is recommending the evacuation of part of the community. Aamjiwnaang First Nation declared a state of emergency in April 2024 and issued a similar evacuation notice in October over elevated emissions of benzene. The latest development comes as a neighbouring styrene plant in Sarnia, Ont., is being decommissioned.
