South Kingstown senior Nolan Urian had to step into a new role on the baseball diamond this season. The Skippers one-time ace is now the team's designated hitter. Pitching in a game last summer, Urian felt a tear in his elbow. "I started a game and it was like six pitches in, I felt it go," Urian said. "The whole summer it was the suspense of, do I have to rehab this or get the surgery?"Ultimately, Urian needed Tommy John surgery.

Four girls from Hunter Ridge Farm in Ashaway will represent Rhode Island on the national stage this weekend!Ryleigh Orton, Olivia Rielly, Emma Aaron and Taylor Edenbach are part of a team at Hunter Ridge, competing in the Intercollegiate Equestrian Association (IEA). "It's a pretty big deal," said Charlestown's Orton. To qualify for the IEA Hunt Seat National Finals, they had to first advance through regionals, then zones, beating out other riders throughout New England.

A sixth-grader from East Greenwich is making quite the splash!Mia DaPonte, 12, has only been scuba diving for two years. "I've just always had a passion for the ocean so I thought it was a really cool thing to do once I turned 10," DaPonte said. However, she's already achieved a title less than 2% of divers have. Mia diving in Cozumel, Mexico. In February, DaPonte earned her Master Scuba Certification, becoming the youngest Master Diver in New England.
Friars hockey to face defending champs in NCAA regional

The Providence College hockey team will take on Denver Friday night to open the NCAA Tournament. The Friars are the #2 seed in the Manchester Regional facing off against the 3-seeded and reigning national champion Pioneers. This is PC's first trip to the tournament since 2019.
