At Constable Daniel Woodall School, a ceremony was held Friday honoured the life and legacy of the Edmonton Police Service officer, 10 years after he made the ultimate sacrifice. Dan Woodall was killed in the line of duty on June 8, 2015 in west Edmonton, where he and his fellow members of the hate crimes unit were attempting to make an arrest at a home in Callingwood. The 35-year-old officer was shot through the door of a home.

A mural painted on the windows of The Cabin Pub + Party in the downtown core is celebrating the Edmonton Oilers and turning heads in the process. Award-winning Sri Lankan artist, Lalith Senanayake, and his son Don, have been working on the artwork together. "We are Oilers fans. We like the Oilers team. My favourite player is (Connor) McDavid," Lalith said. It all started a couple weeks ago with a simple concept: capture a historic time in Edmonton Oilers hockey.

Fort Edmonton Park opens for its 51st season on May 17, but hundreds of kids were given a preview Thursday. "They get to see the park this year before anybody else does," said Lori Farquharson Persaud, executive director of the Fort Edmonton Foundation. About 1,500 children had the run of Fort Edmonton experiencing a number of free activities as part of the foundation's Community Day.

A St. Albert boy is making sure kids stuck in the hospital have something fun to do. Like many kids his age, 12-year-old Lincoln Chessie is a big fan of playing video games. “He loves them probably more than anything else in this world. He comes home and it’s the first thing he does after school,” his mom Nichole McDonald said. Chessie wants to share that love with others.

The Edmonton Police Service (EPS) is welcoming its first Operational Stress Intervention Dog (OSID): Blaise. “Whether it’s a difficult call during a tough day, or the need for a calming presence, Blaise will be available to all of our staff — sworn and civilian,” EPS’ interim police chief Warren Driechel said. Blaise is a black lab who is almost three years old.
