Kenya Airways (KQ) has announced the following network adjustments in anticipation of the upcoming peak season to ensure more efficient operations:Plaine Magnien, Mauritius Effective October 27, there will be an additional flight from Mauritius to Nairobi. The flights will now operate on Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays. Moroni, Comoros Islands Effective October 28, there will be one additional flight frequency from Nairobi to Comoros on Thursdays.

From January to August 2024, South Africa welcomed 280 000 visitors from the US – a 7% increase compared with the same period in 2023. Arrivals are currently at 99.7% of pre-pandemic levels. Canada also showed positive progress with arrivals increasing by 4.1% during the same period, reaching 85.9% of pre-pandemic levels. “We are confident that, by year-end, US arrivals will surpass pre-pandemic figures,” says Dinky Malikane, South African Tourism (SAT) Regional GM: Americas.

The South African National Convention Bureau (SANCB) has made impressive strides in securing international business events since the start of the 2024/2025 financial year, solidifying the country’s position as a premier destination for global conferences and conventions. Since the beginning of the 2024/25 financial year, the SANCB and South Africa’s business events industry have submitted 63 bids for international business events between 2024 and 2029.

FlyNamibia has reinstated its flights from Windhoek to the coastal town of Lüderitz. The airline’s Managing Director André Campion confirmed that the new route operates five days a week, from Monday to Friday. The weekday flight, WV541, departs from Windhoek Eros airport at 07h15 and arrives in Lüderitz Airport at 08h05. Return flight WV542 departs from Lüderitz at 12h15 and arrives back in Windhoek at 13h05. Flights to Lüderitz were suspended by the airline in January, 2024, reports the Namibian.

The Lebombo border post between South Africa and Mozambique remains operational following violent protests after the country's election results. The Acting Commissioner of the Border Management Authority (BMA), Jane Thupana, said on Sunday, October 27, that the border post had not been affected and remained operational with both the movement of people and goods being facilitated as normal.

South African National Parks has advised that the cableway at Table Mountain National Park in Cape Town will remain closed today, October 25, until further notice while fire damage is assessed. All visitors and staff were evacuated safely yesterday.

SATSA is closely monitoring the situation in Mozambique following violent protests after the country's election results amid allegations of vote rigging. Isolated incidents have been reported and the situation remains volatile. On Thursday night (October 24), a group of tourists was stranded at the Lebombo/Ressano Garcia border post between South Africa and Mozambique but safely crossed into South Africa with assistance from Mozambique police.
