AbstractBackground: Diabetes and tuberculosis (DMTB) comorbid patients show atypical disease presentation and poor prognosis during treatment. In diabetes, the impaired immune system could partially be explained by the altered gut microbiota. Understanding gut microbiota and their association with the metabolite profiles in DMTB conditions may help design adjunct therapeutics.

AbstractDiabetes negatively impacts the host immune system, leading to allergies, recurring infections, and lameness. Its impact on the distribution and molecular phenotypes of the bone marrow-derived macrophages (BMDMs) needs attention and, more importantly, in co-morbid conditions like diabetes and tuberculosis (DM-TB).
