Sonoma Bever’s ability to balance her responsibility as an attacking threat and a playmaker that sets up teammates was crucial for Madison Edgewood this past week. The senior forward had two goals and two assists in the Crusaders 4-0 win over Reedsburg. “Her first goal in the Reedsburg game was generated purely by her strength and determination,” Madison Edgewood coach Chris Martinelli said. Bever had two more assists against Cedarburg, as the Crusaders prevailed with a 2-1 victory.

Marshall coach Eric Cobb said Max Timpel is one of the team’s most valuable athletes. The senior’s importance was highlighted as he closed out Marshall’s 4x100-meter relay win at the Deerfield Mini Invite. “He is one of our biggest point getters and is a major player on the relays and individual events,” Cobb said. Timpel’s anchor leg helped the Cardinals’ relay team win in 46.54 seconds, per AthleticNet. He also set a season best of 18 feet, 9 ½ inches in the long jump to finish third.
