To the Editor:The 31st Stamford Board of Representatives strongly condemns the attacks against Israel. The acts of brutal violence and terror unleashed on Israel are beyond comprehension.  The Stamford Board of Representatives extends its condolences to all those with family and friends who have been affected by the horrendous actions of Hamas. Our hearts share  tremendous sorrow as we mourn the loss of life.

That exceptional record is the direct result of the ongoing investments we’ve made in our distribution infrastructure: the poles, wires, and transformers our customers see on their town blocks and city streets.

The cost run up is not surprising to anyone following the project. The scope has increased materially, and decisions around design have been made with minimal regard to budget. Republican BET members have requested the BOE and CMS Building Committee to find compromises on size and have provided suggestions to reduce costs. However, these suggestions have been disregarded, and Republican members vilified for providing cost-reduction ideas.

The BET has taken immediate and timely action to make urgent improvements at OG: Earlier this spring, the Board of Estimate and Taxation (BET), the town’s finance board, approved the school’s partial renovation with a requirement to complete additional cost due diligence before its funding.
