Design The moment you unpack the Xscace Cane slim array speakers and Acacia subwoofer, it’s clear that build quality is a priority here. The Cane speakers are sculpted from what feels like a solid billet of aluminum, dense and immaculately finished. This isn’t just for show either—rigid enclosures mean reduced resonances and better acoustics. And even though the design screams minimalism, subtle gold accents on the Acacia sub’s feet lend a premium flourish.

Design Those who know of JBL electronics know of Synthesis, their high-end line of processors and amplifiers that are aimed squarely at the custom-install market and as such, didn’t need dressing up. But the MA series is a consumer-oriented and forward facing line of products that would be out in the living room, perhaps as the centrepiece even. To serve that audience, a glass fronted, minimalist fascia sticks to the brief.

Design Unmistakably Optoma in its edgy and angular silhouette, the UHC70LV doesn’t try hard to stand out from the crowd as a “world first” anything. Its fairly nondescript chassis is in fact a bit too plasticky to feel properly premium but it does make up by having plenty of connectivity options for even a high-end install. There are a couple of tiny bits of metallic gold flourishes on the either sides to elevate the look, but it does little in the wake of crate-like cooling vents.

Design The chunky case is adorned with triple LEDs and each earbud gets its own LED indicator as well, so no dearth of visual cues here. The quality is robust overall but I would’ve preferred the plastic finish to be more grippy or at least textured, given the precarious situations in which TWS in-ears are opened, worn, stored…and how often they want to escape out of your hands.
