Patna: Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) MLA Ritlal Yadav was sent to 14 days of judicial custody by a court in Bihar's Patna on Thursday. This comes hours after he, along with his three close aides, surrendered in the Danapur court in connection with an extortion case. A large number of Yadav's supporters had also gathered outside the court after his surrender. Speaking to the media outside the courtroom, Yadav made serious allegations, claiming that there is a conspiracy to eliminate him.

Bihar was hit by severe weather conditions on Thursday, leading to the death of 58 people across the state in a single day. Among the fatalities, 23 people were killed due to lightning strikes, while 35 others died in storm-related accidents, including collapsing trees and walls during heavy rain and strong winds. As per the information, the worst-hit district was Nalanda, where 22 people lost their lives due to powerful gusts of wind.

At least thirteen people were killed after being struck by lightning across four districts in Bihar, an official statement said on Wednesday. According to the Chief Minister's Office (CMO), Begusarai reported five deaths, Darbhanga four, Madhubani three and Samastipur one. Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has expressed his deep condolences on the death of 13 people and announced an ex gratia of Rs 4 lakh each to the next of kin of the deceased,  the statement added.
