No fewer than 21 persons have been killed in a bandits attack on Baure Village, Safana Local Government Area of Katsina State. The incident occurred at about 4:30 p.m. on January 7, 2025. A 29-year old man has been arrested by the police for allegedly killing his mother for ritual purposes in Cross River State. Spokesperson for the Police Command in the state, SP Irene Ugbo, confirmed the suspect’s arrest and detention to newsmen on Friday in Calabar, albeit without further details. The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the incident had occurred on Dec. 25, 2024 in Batriko, Eastern Boki Local Government Area (LGA) of the state.

Edo State Police Command has detained three men for allegedly gang-raping a 12-year-old girl in Okpella, Etsako East Local Government Area of the state. The state Commissioner of Police, Umoru Ozigi, disclosed this on Friday in Benin when the Administrator, Office of Edo First Lady, Mrs Edesili Anani, visited him. Ozigi, who did not disclose the identities of the suspects, however, assured the administrator that the victim would get justice.
