Women’s soccer takes regular season finale over Engineers

On a frigid and gray Saturday afternoon, the Ithaca College women’s soccer team took the field for its final regular season game against the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute Engineers on Nov. 2. The Bombers consistently capitalized on gaps in the Engineers’ defense, securing a first-place finish in the Liberty League with a 3-0 win.

The Academic Quad outside of the Ithaca College Library is a bustle of activities in the warmer days leading up to winter. This fall, however, a new face has emerged as a frequent patron of the outdoors. Almost every day — weather accommodating — first-year student Ashton Spinale sets up on the quad with his yo-yo and a pair of AirPods. Spinale said he listens mostly to pop, some rap and whatever his favorite songs are at the time.

Categories: October 13, 2024 After 90 minutes of constant action, the Ithaca College men’s soccer team recovered from a three-game scoring drought with a 2-0 win over the Clarkson University Golden Knights. Consistent with most games this season, the Bombers clocked 22 shots, four more than last game. The Bombers dominated the first half, keeping possession largely in Clarkson territory with some key breakaways and targeted throw-ins.
Hippo Campus’ new album ‘Flood’ is underdeveloped and overall disappointing

Although the title “Flood” can evoke auditory memories of the band’s past triumphs like singles “Monsoon” or “Bubbles,” the album has neither the emotion of the former nor the ingenuity of the latter. Hippo Campus’ new album does not exhibit the same musical quality that put the band on NPR Music’s favorite new artists list in 2017. Unlike in past albums, the first couple songs do not start the record off strong.

He tapped into a slower beat, letting his vocals carry him through nine well-composed tracks. Although his gravelly voice was the most highlighted across the songs, Lenderman’s instrumentals were what made almost every song distinct.

Now, with his first album release — after a series of variably executed EPs — Smith shows listeners what exactly he was doing with all that time out of the spotlight. On Aug. 23, he released his record “Common People.”Although individual songs lack originality compared to other pop songs, the album as a whole is composed in an authentic and novel way.

With upstate New York weather being as unpredictable as it is, the Ithaca College baseball team has had to make numerous adjustments this season to accommodate a weather-intolerant field. Freeman Field is a natural dirt and grass field, not a synthetic surface, which means it cannot be plowed or played on while wet.
Park Promotions plans its very first Park Convention

A new exhibition experience is coming to Ithaca College. The Park Convention, hosted by Park Promotions, will showcase student work from across the Roy H. Park School of Communications’ 10 majors and nine minors. The inaugural Park Convention will take place from 2 to 4 p.m. April 19 on the third floor of Park Hall. Park Promotions Manager Mickie Quinn said the idea for the convention came from some students in the School of Music, Theatre, and Dance who are also part of Park Promotions.
Lost Mary’s finds a stage for their living room jams

April 3, 2024 Lost Lost Mary’s band, made up of Ithaca College students, includes senior Margaret Harper, sophomore Zach Ryan, sophomore Chris Tassone and juniors Gerard Allen and Morrison Powell. The group formed in Fall 2023, and it is mostly a cover band but has some original songs that they play occasionally. Nobody in the group has a designated position or instrument.
BOLD Program returns to IC from year-long hiatus with reshaped focus

With the return of funding, the BOLD Women’s Leadership Network at Ithaca College will welcome a new cohort of BOLD Scholars for the Class of 2027. The Helen Gurley Brown Foundation has resumed funding the scholarship at Ithaca College, according to a Feb. 27 email from Bonnie Prunty, vice president of Student Affairs and Campus Life.
