By NOAH BECKER April 7, 2025Dear readers: One of my staff interviewed me. I hate those geeky "letter from the editor" sections in corporate art magazines. That's not what I do. We're bigger than many of the corporate art magazines but still about the scene. So this seemed like a great idea for an editor's update. Here is the conversation, which should dispel a certain amount of mystery about me and what this magazine does currently - and who I am.

By NOAH BECKER April 5, 2025Most people know that in addition to publishing this magazine, I also make paintings, (and play great jazz alto saxophone) — it’s mentioned in the short bio below this article. So why bring it up here? It’s not about seeking attention, or trying to promote myself. Rather, I think it gives some context. When you’re actively engaged in making art, your perspective shifts — especially when it comes to choosing who you talk to or feature in an art magazine like Whitehot.

By NOAH BECKER March 19, 2025The fantastic painter Deborah Druick has a show on at NYC's Nino Mier Gallery. I spoke with Druick about her painterly intentions...  Noah Becker: Why do you depict your female figures without faces? Deborah Druick: The absence of features /expression indicates an absence of identity. A figure that is uncomposed /unfinished. These women have identities that are not yet realized. NB: Your work explores confinement in domestic spaces. How does this relate to modern society?

By NOAH BECKER, JUN 2014It was interesting speaking to Betty Tompkins in her Soho New York studio surrounded by her monumental works. Explicit porn film stills of male/female intercourse are a theme of an ongoing series. We don't talk about porn films when we have conversations surrounded by Betty's works and we don’t talk about sex. Discussions are about the art world, art criticism and the general situation for artists in New York.

By NOAH BECKER March 14, 2025Noah Becker: Your artistic process is incredibly meticulous, from conceptualizing a scene to scouting locations and constructing costumes and props. How did this process evolve for ECLIPSE, and did you face any unexpected challenges? Reine Paradis: The process and techniques are constantly evolving over time as the work expands and grows, however some of the core principles of how I approach the work remain the same.
