    After a close win on Thursday night to wrap up the home schedule, Havre softball went east to Sidney on Friday to take on the Eagles and routed them, (14-2) in six innings. After no score in the first inning, the Blue Ponies came out swinging in the second, taking advantage of three errors by Sidney and scoring six times. In the fourth inning, another Eagles mistake in the field brought in two more runs for Havre and also got another run via an RBI groundout.

    Box Elder high school student-athlete Tuarie Stiffarm-Rosette was recognized for a major honor this past weekend. The senior dual-sport athlete was given the 2025 Montana High School Association (MHSA) Outstanding Leadership Performance Award for the winter sports season. The MHSA awards the OLPA to one student-athlete or team from each season of sports in Montana. Stiffarm-Rosette joins the Fairview Warriors girls’ volleyball team as the only winners so far for the 2024-25 school year.

    Because of the weather sweeping across the state, plans changed in a hurry for Montana outdoor high school sports, including track and field. Havre as well as 9C schools Big Sandy, Box Elder, Hays Lodge Pole, and Fort Benton all gathered in Lewistown for the Golden Eagle Invitational on Tuesday. The Havre girls’ won the competition with 278.66 points. Havre’s boys’ finished fifth with 76 points, while the Fort Benton boys’ were in third at 114 points.

    The 12th annual Fergus Invitational Softball Tournament got going on Friday morning in Lewistown with Havre playing a doubleheader. The Blue Ponies would go on to drop a couple to Southeastern ‘A’ teams in Laurel, (7-6) and Billings Central, (15-9). In the first matchup, Kamree Oliver got the scoring going with an RBI single in the opening inning.

    The Blue Pony track and field teams were tops in their home meet over the weekend. New Media Broadcasters asked head coach Kari Filius what she took away from both JV and varsity’s performances in Havre this past Saturday. “We’re just excited to see everybody PRing, getting their best times and distances so early,” Filius said. “We’re trying to do what we did last year.”“We had a total of 47 PRs on the team,” Filius continued. “And that’s JV and varsity.
