A 50-person trade delegation from Vietnam announced pledges to purchase $2 billion in agricultural goods in a visit to the Iowa State Capitol on Monday. The signing of five memoranda of understanding (MOUs) is between the Vietnamese feed industry and private companies from the United States. Of the $2 billion in total value, $800 million has been pledged to Iowa farm goods, according to Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship (IDALS) Secretary Mike Naig.

The American Farm Bureau Federation (AFBF), in partnership with Farm Credit Services, is seeking entrepreneurs to apply by June 9 for the 2026 Farm Bureau Ag Innovation Challenge. The national business competition showcases U.S. startups developing solutions to challenges faced by America’s farmers, ranchers, and rural communities. Entrepreneurs must be members of a county or parish Farm Bureau within their state of residence to qualify as top 10 semi-finalists.

Just an hour from downtown Des Moines with a large cornfield surrounding the Iowa Speedway, Newton, Iowa, will once again host the two largest professional motorsports series in the United States: the IndyCar Series and NASCAR. The NASCAR weekend Aug. 1-3 is especially important for the speedway and for Iowa farmers.

The Iowa Senate voted Monday night to pass a bill that one trade association said “essentially bans” carbon capture and sequestration (CCS) pipeline projects in the state. Iowa House File 639 passed with 27 yea votes. An Iowa Capital Dispatch report said the bill limits the ability of CCS pipeline projects to use eminent domain.
