After an emotional Boston Red Sox Opening Day ceremony and game, I had just enough time on Friday to recover for a night game at Harbor Park. Before I get to the Harbor Park experience, I have to say that Boston sports organizations have Opening Day/Game down to a SCIENCE! They bring back Boston sports legends, they have emotional tributes, they tug at your baseball heart strings, and allow all the memories to just flow through you like a delicious gulp of your finest Irish whiskey.

This past Sunday morning, the last Sunday in March, back from Houston, waking up in Virginia Beach, a Norfolk State baseball calendar notification popped up on my phone. I was seated about halfway up the bleachers behind home plate. Spread out throughout the stands, there were a number of player’s parents, some NSU faculty and students, and some younger fans watching the game and enjoying the beautiful Sunday sun.

Last week, on my business trip for ABF Freight to Houston, I had some time Wednesday morning to check out a new baseball stadium. Actually, let me rephrase that – it is a new name for a Houston professional baseball stadium once called Minute Maid Park. Daikin Park is the newly named stadium that will be the Houston Astros home field in downtown Houston. Same location, same field, different name. Here is what else I found out when I visited the site located on Crawford Street, Houston.
