The United States Environmental Protection Agency (“EPA”) has extended the public comment period for the Draft Sewage Sludge Risk Assessment for Perfluorooctanoic Acid (PFOA) and Perfluorooctane Sulfonic Acid (PFOS) (“Draft Risk Assessment”) until April 16, 2025. EPA’s 30-day extension, among other things, provides an opportunity for interested parties to “thoroughly review and analyze” the Draft Risk Assessment.

California has become the first state in the nation to pass an
extended producer responsibility (EPR) law making producers of
apparel and textiles responsible for the full lifecycle of those
products.
The Responsible Textile Recovery Act, or SB 707, was signed into law last week, and
requires formation and selection by March 1, 2026 of a producer
responsibility organization (PRO) responsible for the collection,
repair, recycling and management of apparel and textile articles.
