Chinas neue Preisdaten für den Monat März geben wenig Anlass zur Hoffnung, dass Chinas Binnennachfrage und Konsumkonjunktur Belebungstendenzen zeigen. Am Donnerstag wies das Pekinger Statistikbüro einen winzigen Anstieg der Verbraucherpreise um 0,1% gegenüber dem Vorjahresmonat aus. Der Erzeugerpreisindex wiederum steckt mit einem Rückgang um 2,8% im März nach −2,7% im Februar kaum verändert im Deflationsterritorium fest.

Zum Auftakt des jährlichen Volkskongresses in Peking setzt sich die chinesische Regierung ein Wachstumsziel von 5% und knüpft damit an die Vorgabe des vergangenen Jahres an. Allerdings wird die Marke nach einheitlicher Auffassung von China-Ökonomen angesichts heftiger konjunktureller Herausforderungen diesmal schwerer zu erfüllen sein. Gegenwärtig liegt die Konsensschätzung für das Wachstum im Jahr 2024 bei 4,6%.
