INTRODUCTION Tracheal resection and anastomosis is employed to treat conditions such as laryngotracheal stenosis, tracheoesophageal fistulas, and tracheal tumors.1, 2 Although most patients do not experience adverse events from a tracheal resection, rare but serious complications can occur, including wound infections, airway edema, tracheoesophageal fistulas, and anastomotic failure.
