THE Ministry of Youth Empowerment, Development and Vocational Training has commended the Second Republic for its commitment to youth leadership, highlighting the appointment of young people to key positions in Government and advocating local scholarships to nurture homegrown talent. Under President Mnangagwa's leadership, a significant number of young people have been appointed to the Cabinet and parastatal boards.

Chief Justice Luke Malaba has directed the Judicial Service Commission (JSC) to train traditional leaders on legal and ethical standards so that as judicial officers they treat litigants with dignity and respect instead of threats or insults. Concerns have been raised about traditional leaders that insult or threaten their subjects when handling disputes. In one instance last year, a traditional leader was recorded threatening to assault a subject.

The rolling hills of national hero, Colonel (Retired) Tshinga Dube's farm in Shangani, Insiza District, Matabeleland South Province, stood in solemn silence, their usual bustle replaced by the soft murmur of hundreds gathered to pay their respects. The air was heavy with a sense of loss as the mourners, some clad in black, assembled at his stately homestead to bid farewell to the national icon.
