A High Court sitting in Ado-EKiti on Monday sentenced one Jayeoba Oluwafemi, 56, to life imprison for defiling his 14-year-old stepdaughter. The 56 year old convict was arraigned before Justice Adekunle Adeleye on Dec. 4, 2020 on one count charge of defilement. The charge said the defendant on October 26, 2020 at Ado Ekiti defiled the 14 years old girl (names withheld), which is contrary to Section 31 (2) of the Child’s Right Law, Cap. C7, Laws of Ekiti State, 2012.

The Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Ahmed Dangiwa, has inaugurated the Ministerial Committee on Technical Assessment, Completion Planning, and Disposal Strategy for the 753 units housing estate recovered by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). Dangiwa while inaugurating the committee, on Monday in Abuja, said the estate was recently recovered and handed over to the ministry by the EFCC.

A total of 49 suspected internet fraudsters have been arrested in Lokoja, the Kogi State capital. The Ilorin Zonal Directorate of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, made this known in a statement on Monday. They suspects were arrested between Saturday, May 24, 2025 and Sunday, May 25, 2025, following actionable intelligence that linked them to fraudulent internet activities.

An Upper Shari’a Court sitting in Kano, on Monday, sentenced a 38-year-old man, Shafi’u Abubakar to death by hanging and 150 strokes of cane for setting a mosque on fire and killing 23 people. Abubakar, who lives in Gezawa Local Government Kano, is charged with culpable homicide, attempted murder, causing grievous hurt and mischief by fire.

The Police Command in Niger State says it has rescued four kidnapped victims in Sarkin-Pawa, Munya Local Government Area of the state. This is contained in a statement by its Public Relations officer, SP Wasiu Abiodun, on Saturday in Minna. The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that on Feb. 20, around 10 p.m, suspected kidnappers attacked Hayin-Dogo and Dangunu villages of Sarkin-Pawa, Munya LGA.
