A Badagry Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos on Thursday remanded a 23-year-old man, Emmanuel Egbunu, in a correctional centre for allegedly defiling an 11-year-old girl. The Chief Magistrate, Mr Patrick Adekomaiya, ordered that Egbunu be remanded at the Awarjigoh Correctional Centre, Badagry, after he pleaded not guilty to defilement and sexual assault. He also ordered that the case file be duplicated and sent to the office of the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) for legal advice.

The Nigeria Governors’ Forum has set up a sub-committee to collaborate with heads of security agencies for immediate solution to security challenges in the country. Imo State governor, Hope Uzodinma announced this in the early hours of Thursday while reading a communique issued after the NGF’s second meeting held late Wednesday night in Abuja. The communique was signed by the forum’s Chairman, Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq of Kwara.

The Chairman, House of Representatives Committee on Anti-Corruption, Mr Kayode Akiolu, has said that the anti-corruption campaign in the country requires strong collaboration to succeed. Akiolu made the statement at the ongoing three-day national anti-corruption conference holding in Uyo. Six persons have been reported dead and five others injured in multiple auto crash in Okene LGA of Kogi State, the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) official has confirmed. Mr Samuel Ogundayo, FRSC Acting Sector Commander in Kogi, disclosed this on Tuesday. Ogundayo described the accident as “tragic and very unfortunate,” noting that it occurred at Okengwe community of Okene around 8.30 pm on Monday. Seven vehicles were involved in the crash.
