An outdoor food market in Pretoria, South Africa. (Bloomberg) -- South African central bankers threw their weight firmly behind lowering their long-standing 3% to 6% inflation target, which is currently under review. The nation’s bonds rallied. Lesetja Kganyago(Bloomberg) -- South Africa’s central bank resumed its easing cycle to offer support to a stuttering economy, as it forecast a more benign inflation outlook. The monetary policy committee cut the benchmark interest rate by 25 basis points to 7.25%, the lowest in more than two years, Governor Lesetja Kganyago told reporters at a briefing north of Johannesburg on Thursday. That matched the median estimate of 21 economists in a Bloomberg survey.
