Cyril Ramaphosa(Bloomberg) -- South African President Cyril Ramaphosa unveiled the second phase of a reform program aimed at firing up an economy that’s grown by an average of less than 1% annually over the past decade, with measures planned to fix dysfunctional municipalities and drive the adoption of digital technologies. Implementation of the program will be overseen by Operation Vulindlela, a unit that was established in 2020 and answers to the Presidency and the National Treasury.

Lesetja Kganyago(Bloomberg) -- South Africa’s central bank Governor Lesetja Kganyago said that lower oil prices have helped drive inflation in the country to a multiyear low and would probably continue to do so. “We still think that the next print might still have a 2-handle to it, but the environment is uncertain,” Kganyago told Bloomberg Television Thursday in Washington, on the sidelines of the International Monetary Fund and World Bank Spring Meetings.
