    Eleven classrooms were destroyed in a fire that broke out at Riverlea High School on Sunday evening.     A 40-year-old mother from Dunnottar in Nigel who poisoned her two children leaving one dead, was sentenced, to eight years imprisonment, wholly suspended for five years, on condition that she is not convicted of murder during the period of suspension. The sentence was handed down by the  Pretoria High Court, sitting in Benoni. According to NPA spokesperson, Lumka Mahanjana on 6 June 2022, the woman fed her two minor children food laced with poisoned food, a 16-year-old boy and a 7-year-old girl.

    The Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department (JMPD) welcomes the sentencing of four of the five suspects who were found guilty in the heinous murder of JMPD officer, Neo Sepuru. Sepuru, aged 26, was tragically killed on 31 March 2021. According to JMPD spokesperson Superintendent Xolani Fihla, Sepuru had been driving his private car after returning from a departmental soccer match in Marlboro when he was brutally hijacked outside his home in Dube Village, Soweto.
