Political analyst Bheki Mngomezulu says comments by EFF leader Julius Malema regarding the MK Party are unwarranted and misplaced. Malema addressed his party supporters where he labelled MK Party leader Jacob Zuma corrupt. Malema said the MK Party’s mission is to destroy the EFF. Several EFF members have abandoned the party to join the MK Party, including Floyd Shivambu, among others. Mngomezulu says Malema should have used proper platforms to address the issues he raised.

Three alleged illegal miners have been killed in a shootout with the police in Sabie, Mpumalanga. It is alleged that the zama zamas attacked police and other law enforcement officials who were conducting routine patrols around one of the mining shafts in the area. A police officer was shot in the leg during the incident. Provincial Police Spokesperson Donald Mdhluli says rifles and ammunition were recovered at the scene.

An immigration lawyer says Zimbabwean Exemption Permit (ZEP) holders can avoid deportation by following a legal process such as approaching the courts to request an order of extended stay in the country. Friday marks the final deadline for ZEP holders to apply for a waiver or transition to a General Work visa, valid until November 2025. Those who fail to secure a one-year exemption permit by the end of the day are at risk of deportation.

Former Sports, Arts and Culture Minister Zizi Kodwa has welcomed the withdrawal of charges against him. The Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) withdrew corruption charges against Kodwa and his co-accused, ex-EOH Executive, Jehan Mackay. Kodwa is accused of receiving bribes worth R1.7 million from Mackay in exchange for government tenders. The pair was charged with violating the Prevention and Combating of Corrupt Activities as well as the Prevention of Organised Crimes Acts.
