INTRODUCTION As U.S. News and other academic rankings have come under increased criticism, citation rankings have emerged as a popular alternative for evaluating law faculties. Yet these rankings have also generated substantial controversy. Some scholars argue that citation counts are flawed measures of scholarly quality. Others claim that they are biased against underrepresented groups and interdisciplinary scholars.
