    ONGWEDIVA – Oshana regional council on Friday rolled out a programme to support farmers with goats. The council is giving 480 goats to 88 farmers in all 11 constituencies in the region.     The health ministry has commissioned the 12-bed dialysis unit at Oshakati Intermediate Hospital last week. The unit offers a place for patients with kidney problems to receive life-saving treatment and can thereafter live a normal life. Speaking during the commissioning, health minister Kalumbi Shangula said the government spent more than N$100 million annually to refer State patients to private health facilities.

    OSHAKATI – Oshana region on Monday welcomed home its regional debate team following a win of the Namport debate competition at the just-ended Maritime week in Walvisbay. The team scooped first position,winning N$500 000 in sponsorship and a floating trophy. In addition, each learner received N$5 000. The chief regional officer, Teopolina Hamutumua, who was in a jovial mood, said the debate team’s win for the whole region. She said the debate champions have set a great example for their peers.
