Recreators should be prepared with proper clothing and equipment for snow, ice, and cold to ensure a safe winter experience. The Adirondacks are already experiencing winter conditions despite pleasant fall days at lower elevations. In the High Peaks, the Lake Colden outpost caretaker is reporting icy trail conditions and unsafe lake ice.
