Don’t miss out on these adventures for fall:Late October trip to the Georgia coast at St Simons Island with Mark Noble and St Simons Fishing Charters – Mark is an island native and has been operating a fishing guide service most of his life. He knows these waters like no one I’ve ever known and the October/November calendar dictates your presence to catch upward of 700 pounds of giant redfish per day. The target area is the river mouths that feed the shallow bay waters.

The Southeast is covered with Appalachian Mountains and foothill reservoirs. What might be suggested to aide a fisherman to know of, understand, and apply the seasonal techniques to make those fishing trips more successful and at the most reasonable price over time applied to this vast array of lakes? Tough question, huh? Before I get to my recommendations, set aside the value of the trip itself, your experience with friends, family members, youngsters, etc.

Let’s just list our current equipment; hyper-accurate rifles holding dependable cartridges staged beneath pinpoint adjustable scopes up to and including 50 power, hat to shoes very classy camo that the Whitetail absolutely cannot see (even with lawfully required orange vest and cap, he cannot see you) and then, too, scent cover that blinds his capability of finding you with his 10,000 power nose.

Lake Marion is the larger of the two, covering 110,000 acres, while Lake Moultrie covers 70,000 acres. Both lakes are located in the lower part of South Carolina near Charleston. Hold on a minute, how many acres? 180,000! If you’re a Georgia fisherman, as I am, let me reference that for you.

In lakes, reservoirs and bigger ponds all over the South, the largemouth, spots, a few smallmouths, walleyes and even the crappie are off the banks and are deep. If you’re good at it, docks and bridges will help but when I say deep, I’m meaning 40 to 60 plus feet. Stripers hit the surface occasionally but it’s seldom. So with so much down time, you’d better have a good friend with you to kill the time in between.
