Aaron Hill's bid to reach the World Snooker Championships has been ended by Matthew Selt on a 10-3 scoreline in Sheffield. The Cork man had battled to put himself in with a shot overnight, as he trailed 4-3 in their third round qualifier. Hill then won this afternoon's opening frame but that would be as good as it got. World number 35 Selt took control of the match, winning six frames on the spin with three breaks over 60 and he'll now face Joe O'Connor for a place at the Crucible.

McDiarmid Park has been lined up for Wednesday's cinch Premiership encounter between Dundee and Rangers if Dens Park fails a pitch inspection on Tuesday. The Scottish Professional Football League is eager for the game to be played before the post-split fixtures begin even though Dundee clinched the final place in the top six with a draw at Aberdeen on Saturday. The match has been postponed twice because of a waterlogged surface, much to the annoyance of Rangers.
