    Arch Linux gets a bad rap for being far too challenging a distribution for the average user, which is a shame because it’s also a rock-solid distro from which anyone would benefit. One of the most challenging aspects of Arch Linux is the installation process, which requires a solid understanding of how Linux (and operating systems in general) work. For those without a grasp of Linux fundamentals, Arch is not a good option.

    I cannot remember a time when I didn’t use GIMP. For those who do not know, GIMP stands for GNU Image Manipulation Project and it’s the open-source equivalent of Photoshop. GIMP is powerful, with all the tools you need to create and edit incredible images. I’ve been using GIMP for years to create book covers for myself and many others, as well as create/edit screenshots and other image-related tasks. GIMP development tends to be a bit on the slow side.
