The committee also considers budgetary estimates for the Department of Education and the Department of Further and Higher Education, Research, Innovation, and Science.

    Aoife Heaney (17) presented the jersey she wore during the Six Nations U-18 Women’s Festival campaign to Mount Saint Michael. Speaking to the Irish Independent, Heaney said she donated her jersey to the Mount Saint Michael to recognise their work in developing rugby in the school. The Garrymore native featured in all five of Ireland’s games after she was called up for their recent Six Nations campaign. The jersey she wore currently resides in Mount Saint Michael secondary school.

Mr Martin was responding to remarks from Roscommon-Galway TD Clare Kerrane, who said that farmers affected by the fires had been left “high and dry” by the government.

    Mayo County Council have warned that swimming at Carrowmore Beach ‘may cause illness’ after elevated levels of bacteria were detected in water samples. This comes after Clare Island Beach was issued with a ‘do not swim’ notice following elevated levels of bacteria detected in the water. Restrictions at both beaches are expected to remain in place for 72 hours.
