    A former National Auditor of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Sir Paul Chukwuma, on Thursday emerged as the candidate of the Young Progressives Party (YPP) for the upcoming November 8, 2025 governorship election in Anambra State. Chukwuma resigned his membership of the APC, less than 48 hours to the April 5, 2025 when the party conducted its governorship primary which produced Prince Nicolas Ukachukwu as candidate.

    The Imeobi Onitsha Traditional Council has dismissed trending media report of a purported warning to Northern youths resident in Onitsha, Anambra State, credited to His Majesty, Nnaemeka Alfred Achebe (Agbogidi), the Obi of Onitsha, over tension arising from the recent unfortunate killing of 16 travellers in Uromi, Edo State.     An Anti-Crime Squad of the Anambra State Police Command has arrested two suspects in connection with the murder of 80-year-old Mrs Theresa Igbojonu. LEADERSHIP learnt that the victim, a native of Umunwaji Village in Ihiala, Ihiala local government area of the state was murdered on 5th April, 2025. Mrs Igbojonu’s assailants reportedly tied her two legs and gagged her mouth before killing the victim and also made away with her CG motorcycle.

    Prince Nicolas Ukachukwu has emerged flag-bearer of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the November 8, 2025 Anambra State governorship election. He polled a total of 1,455 votes to defeat three other contestants: Valentine Ozigbo (67 votes), Johnbosco Onunkwo (26 votes) and Edozie Madu.
