Linsley has lived many lives. Before becoming a modern family abode, the 1830s terrace house, situated in Millers Point, an inner-city suburb of Sydney, was a haven for public housing. Its current avatar is a far cry from its previous iteration, though some carefully preserved relics provide a welcome keyhole to the past.

Inspired by the adventurous spirit of the owners, Carla Barton and Graphio AM transformed Albany House into an enduring and timeless home that pays homage to the past. The team injects vibrancy and personality through contemporary, warm insertions. Located in Petersham, and built in the early 1900s, the original Albany House had been left to decay for decades, awaiting the right owner to take on the challenge of restoration.

Inspired by a distinctly European hotel aesthetic, Hunters Hill is reimagined and expanded to encompass a more open contemporary liveability. In the design of Hunters Hill, Designed by JAM ensured the existing heritage character was retained among the new interventions while infusing an abundance of natural light and warmth.

A renovated one-bedroom apartment in the heart of Surry Hills, Crown Street Apartment by Designed By JAM is filled with natural light and calming hues. As design enthusiasts, the owners had a clear vision in mind for the rejuvenation of their space. Responding to the clients’ desire for a home that communicated an atmosphere akin to a cool rooftop bar, Designed By JAM seamlessly married indoor and outdoor spaces, welcoming a wealth of natural light.

This isn’t the first time this Mid-century home on Sydney’s Lower North Shore has featured in Australian House & Garden – in fact, it was the cover star in November 1959. Built by Allan Frazer, a talented jack-of-all trades who owned a manufacturing business, and his sailing buddy, architect Geoffrey Twibill, in 1958, it has been home to Allan’s daughter Linda practically her whole life. “This house means everything to me,” says Linda.
