Frank Nazar had two goals and an assist, Cutter Gauthier scored twice, and Conor Garland and Logan Cooley added a goal and an assist each for the Americans in the Group B game in Herning. Nazar deflected in a shot by Cooley to open the scoring with 5:53 left in the first period and added his second 2:47 later from behind the goal line off goalie Adam Vay.

Bo Horvat scored two power-play goals, Nathan MacKinnon had a goal and two assists and Noah Dobson also scored on a power play. Dylan Garand made 11 saves for Canada in the Group A game in the Swedish capital. Horvat opened the scoring 7:22 into the opening period with a one-timed shot from the left circle. Canada added three more goals in the middle period when it outshot Slovenia 22-3.

Matty Beniers led the Americans with two goals, Cutter Gauthier and Mason Lohrei had a goal and an assist each, and Logan Cooley also scored in a Group B game. Michael Kesselring had two assists and goaltender Joey Daccord recorded 26 saves in the shutout. "Any time a goalie gets a shutout is a team result," Daccord said after his debut at the worlds.
